I focused my search on works written in response to Hurricane Katrina, the 2005 hurricane that devastated the New Orleans area, a region known for its rich musical culture. My playlist includes works by Ted Hearne, Brett William Dietz, Luna Pearl Woolf, Terence Blanchard, Jeffery L. Ames, and Dr. John.
Library catalogs use topical tags called "subject headings" to help users locate related information. These aren't always useful for music, since lots of music isn't "about" anything. But they can be useful for finding music that is written in response to a particular concept or event.
