Listen Wider Challenge 2020

Playlists and Reading Lists for the Listen Wider Challenge

Challenge

  1. A classic rock album from the 1960s or 1970s you feel like you should have listened to in its entirety by now, but never have

This is another one that relies on a personal criterium-- I've listened to everything by the Beatles, for example, but not a lot of other "classic rock" from the 1960s and 70s. So YMMV.

How I Found These

There's no perfect online library resource for this question, though there are plenty of blog posts and articles about great albums. I turned to a print reference resource, but one that includes the full table of contents in Search@UW, which provided me all the information I needed. Even from a distance, you can often gather important information about a book from its description.

Reference sources like this one don't usually circulate outside the library. But beginning Aug. 24, 2020, music reference sources will temporarily be available for 28-day loan, while the second floor of the library remains closed.

Bibliography and Resources

Most of these books aren't available as ebooks, but you can use the process described above to request physical books and pick them up at the library.

Albums

UWM owns original LPs of three of these four albums. When the reopens, you'll be able to request these LPs and listen to them on LP players available in the library.
