Online and Distance Education Services

Information about obtaining materials for online, distance and FLEX option students and faculty.

What Services can I access?

Any online student or faculty member can:

  • Have articles sent to them electronically.
  • Talk to a librarian via chat, email, or telephone.
  • Use the library's electronic resources remotely.
  • Borrow books from the nearest University of Wisconsin library.

Students and faculty in fully online programs can:

  • Do all of the things listed above.
  • Have books they need sent to them in the mail if living outside a 30 mile radius of campus.

Do I need my ID Number?

In most cases, an ePanther ID and password are the only credentials needed to access online library materials and services. If you need to access your UWM ID number, there are a few options:

Distance Services Eligibility

Who is eligible for the distance services?

To qualify for home delivery services you must meet these requirements:

  • You live 30 or more miles from your UWM campus.
  • You do not come to any UWM campus to attend class. Students and staff who attend any portion of a class on campus must pick up items in person.

Staff and students in unique situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis if you reside within the 30-mile radius. Students enrolled in the Flex Program qualify for home delivery services.
