The Encyclopedia of Milwaukee project aims to provide comprehensive coverage of the history of Milwaukee. With a projected 740 entries, hundreds of illustrations, historical and contemporary maps, bibliographic materials, and the opportunity to interact with readers, the EMKE will be a first stop for researchers ranging from students to journalists to scholars and the general public.

The Encyclopedia of Milwaukee covers the four-county Milwaukee area, as recognized by the United States government: Milwaukee County, Ozaukee County, Washington County, and Waukesha County.

The Making of Milwaukee is a five hour, high definition video series that explores the intriguing people who came to live beside Lake Michigan: their politics, their triumphs, and tragedies, their work, and play. From civic saints to scoundrels, industrialists to Socialists, Potawatomi to Hmong, The Making of Milwaukee tells the story of our city.
History provides context to how Milwaukee became the city it is with timelines and Then & Now photographs.

The Making of Milwaukee is a five-hour television series. Its eighteen chapters explore the intriguing people who came to live beside Lake Michigan; their politics, their triumphs, and tragedies, their work, and play. From saints to scoundrels, from industrialists to Socialists, from Potawatomi to Hmong, The Making of Milwaukee tells the story of Milwaukee.

The series was written and is hosted by historian John Gurda. It is based on his book, The Making of Milwaukee, published by the Milwaukee County Historical Society.
Ethnic Stories provides the details of the distinct cultural groups--including the nations indigenous to the territory and the settlers that colonized it--that have shaped Milwaukee's history.
