Football at UWM

Football at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has a storied history, from its humble beginnings in 1898 until its eventual disbanding in 1974. After a rocky start as the Normal School Braves in 1899, the program entered a golden age under Coach Herman Kluge, winning several state championships. Sadly, the program would never be as successful under the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee banner, but continued to have an impact on the school culture until cut for lack of funding. This guide explores the nearly 70 years of football history at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and its predecessor institutions, the Wisconsin State Normal School, Milwaukee State Teacher's College, and the Wisconsin State College-Milwaukee.
