A note about Superscript Numeration

HOW TO MAKE SUPERCRIPT NUMBERS

Write the sentence containing the reference and put the appropriate number for the citation at the end of it along with a period after it.

The highlighting only the number (or group of numbers) use the following key strokes to change them into superscript

CTRL + SHIFT + =

Do not include the period in the superscript. Your text should look like this:

The most fundamental specialization of the eusocial insects is the division of colony members into two castes, workers (functionally sterile individuals) and reproductives1.

Separate multiple citations with a comma and use a hyphen for a range.

Formatting

Hanging Indents:

Hanging indents are not required in the CSE citation form. However, that is not to say that your professor may not require them. Check on the requirement first. If they do, require them, the format them is as follows:

All citations should be double spaced and have a hanging indent in a Reference List.

A "hanging indent" means that each subsequent line after the first line of your citation should be indented by 0.5 inches.

Hyperlinks are not required in the CSE citation form.
