Summer Mini-Course Guide

Presentation Tips

1. Organize Your Information

Plan out how you will show what you know! Take a few minutes and create a visual plan for your poster.

Think about:

  • What information goes together?
  • What is REALLY important for the viewer to know - should it get a more prominent space on your poster?
  • Should some material be a bigger font?

2. Include photos and be creative! Jazz it up!

  • Photos and other visual items are fun for your viewers to look at AND ask questions about

3. Know More than What You're Sharing

  • You are going to find A LOT - but it won't all fit on the poster - that's ok!
  • Dazzle viewers with your extra knowledge during your presentation

4. Practice!

  • Take a few minutes to review and run through the material you have
  • If someone asks a question - you will feel more prepared!

5. Be Yourself!

  • Show your personality - it's ok to be more "conversational" than "formal"
  • If you are interested and engaged - so will your audience!
