Sociology 341: The Sociology of Deviant Behavior

Self-paced Library Workshop for Examining, Theorizing and Responding to Deviance

By completing the following tasks you will become familiar with the library search strategies and scholarly databases you will need to complete the research assignments for this course. 

 

  1. Download a personal copy of the Literature Review ActivityThis will be used to create a research plan for your topic (the deviant behavior) and it will allow your instructor to see your plan for the sources you will use.

  2. Watch Using Curiosity: Mindmapping and Searching the Web and complete Task 1 of the Literature Review Activity including the graphic organizer/mind map. This step will result in a set of important terms you will incorporate in your search. Keep adding it to it throughout the search process.

  3. Watch College-level Search Strategies and complete Task 2 and 3 of the Literature Review Activity. This step will allow you to see a sample search in Sociological Abstracts and select other relevant databases for your search. 

  4. Turn in a copy of your Literature Review Activity to your instructor via Canvas.
