WSH Library FAQ's: Locating Books and Articles

Locating Books in the Washington County Branch Library

To find books and other resources such as videos, maps, and music recordings in the UWM Libraries' collections, use Search@UW. You can search for a specific book by title or author. Use the keyword search if you are looking for books on a specific topic.

Look  for location, call number, and status on the item record..  All books/CD's/DVS's in the UWM at Washington County Library are shelved by call number.  Call numbers are arranged alphabetically by letter and then by number.  All books are located in the stacks in the back of the library.

Requesting Books from other libraries

If the Washington County branch library, does not have the books you need, the best way to get those materials is to request them from another University of Wisconsin Library.

University of Wisconsin System Borrowing allows library users with a valid UWM/Washington County ID to request, borrow and return materials from any participating library within the UW System. These requests can be ordered through the catalog at Search at UW. Follow these simple steps.

  • sign in on the upper right corner
  • find the title of the book you need
  • scroll down to the "Get It" box and click on UW-Request
  • Select "Waukesha Library" as your pickup location
  • click "Request"

The item can be picked up at the UWM at Washington County circulation desk. Please allow 3-5 business days for your items to arrive.  Loan period is usually 4 weeks.
