Dance Resources at UWM: Off-Campus Access

How to access dance resources at the UWM Libraries. Especially for students in the Master's distance ed program

Welcome to UWM Distance Education

The UWM Libraries provides support for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Distance Learning Students.  Currently enrolled students pursuing an education through distance learning methods are entitled to access to library resources and services equivalent to those provided for students in traditional campus settings.

The Libraries offer a variety of services to assist students with their coursework and research.

The Libraries have an extensive page set up specifically for distance ed students. Follow this link to get to it.

Activate Your ILLiad Account

If you are a distance education student (taking all online classes), you can register your ILLiad (the online electronic system you use to request an item through Interlibrary Loan) account to have all your article requests delivered electronically and books mailed to your home. To set up your account, please contact the Interlibrary Loan Librarian, Beth Kucera at 1-877-893-8583 (toll free) or (414) 229-4493 or our general Interlibrary loan email with your name, UWM ID number, and your major/program.

Accessing Library Resources From Off-Campus

Access to your personal record (to renew things you have checked out), the Search@UW request mechanism to get things from other UW campus, and the periodical and audio databases from off-campus requires that you know your 'ePanther' ID.

This is the same logon/password you use to access your email, PAWS, and Canvas

Proxy Server -- If using non UWM  Internet Access (e.g.  RoadRunner, DSL) you will be prompted to login through the proxy server. All the links on this guide (and the Music Library website) have been 'proxied' so that you can just click on them and they will prompt you for your e-panther information.

Delivery of Books

Books will be mailed to your home address free of charge via FedEx. Please be sure to keep your address up to date in PAWS, as this is the address used for delivery. If you would like the materials mailed to a different address, please contact the Distance Education Librarian to set up this arrangement.

Returning Books

You are responsible for the item from the time it is mailed to you until it is received back at UW-Milwaukee Libraries. Materials will be sent to you via FedEx and will contain a return label that includes the Libraries' billing information, so you can send them back to us for free as well. You may, of course, use any shipping method you prefer (USPS, UPS, etc.), but you will be responsible for the cost for using any non-FedEx method.

Books can be returned to:

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Libraries
Interlibrary Loan/Distance Education Services
2311 East Hartford Ave.
Milwaukee, WI 53211

If you live in Wisconsin, you can return the item to a local library (either another UW library or public library). Please indicate that the item needs to be returned to UW-Milwaukee via the South Central Library System (SCLS) Delivery Service using the red bin.
