Public Services Stats

Public Services Stats Data Collection Tool

Welcome

This form gathers essential data that is used by...

  • ACRL, for analysis, comparisons, and benchmarks
  • UWM, to determine the library budget
  • the Libraries, to provide better service to patrons

Who should use this form?
Everyone who works at UWM Libraries and already counts public services statistics should use this form to count the services they provide. If you don't currently keep public services statistics, ask your supervisor, team lead, department head, or assistant director whether they plan to start.

What should be entered into this form?
Any service you provide to members of our campus and community that is not captured by Alma or LibAnswers can be entered on this form. Speak with your supervisor for clarification on what you are expected to count here.

Why are we doing this?
[It is] increasingly important for us to demonstrate our significant contributions to student success and research. To meet this challenge, we need to move beyond our current library-wide assessment practices, which have largely focused on compiling statistics, and develop new methods for demonstrating the value of users' interaction with library services and collections.
—Michael Doylen, Associate Vice Provost & Director of the Libraries

What do we do with this information?
