The UWM Libraries provides library and information support for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee distance learning students and off-campus faculty and staff. Please consult the Distance Education website for services the interlibrary loan staff provides.
The UWM Libraries Interlibrary Loan (ILL) department locates and obtains research materials for UWM faculty, staff, students, and Friends of the Library (at the Sponsor level or higher) that the UWM Libraries does not own.
All interlibrary loan requests are made via ILLiad. You can request renewals and track the status of your interlibrary loan requests through this online system.
Journal articles, book chapters, and some reports are delivered electronically in ILLiad. Books, DVDs, musical scores, and other materials are sent in the mail and can be picked up and returned at the main circulation desk.
ILL office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please check Libraries Hours for exceptions.
You can contact the ILL staff in the following ways during office hours:
In Person: Ask for an ILL staff member at the main circulation desk.
On the Phone: Call the ILL staff at 414-229-4493
Instant Message: Type your question, comment, etc. in the UWM Ask a Librarian box on the right side of your screen.
Upcoming Changes to E-Reserve Service
After investigating options available to us, we will be transitioning our E-Reserve service to one in which course readings are posted directly in D2L. Under this new system, faculty will submit individual scanning requests via the interlibrary loan system, ILLiad. Staff will locate these materials and provide electronic copies of articles and chapters of books directly to faculty ILLiad accounts. The faculty member may then post the readings in D2L. Faculty will receive all of their current E-Reserve PDF files and, thus, will not need to re-request them. We will no longer be hosting these materials on library-created web pages and linking them in our Course Reserve Catalog after the Spring 2014 semester on May 23, 2014. We are also discontinuing the Pamphlet Reserve collection.
