To get help with your research, you can contact a librarian by calling the Ask a Librarian services desk at (414) 229-4659, by coming into the library during regular hours, or by trying one of the following options.

Checking Out Materials

Graduate Student Circulation Policies

  • Fall and Spring Semester: materials are due at the end of each semester.
  • Summer Session: materials are due at the end of the summer session.
  • Periodicals circulate for 48 hours.
  • You may have a total of 200 items checked out from the libraries.

We are multiple libraries housed within a centrally located building with knowledgeable staff to help with your research needs.

Our collections encompass over 5.2 million catalogued items; other resources include 88,000 e-journals & magazines, 143,000 Electronic Books and 300+ online research databases.

I encourage you to participate in our instructional sessions, take a tour of the Libraries, and utilize the many collections and services that can help you to reach your research goals.

The UWM Libraries is contained within the Golda Meir Library building, directly north of the Student Union.  The Daniel M. Soref Learning Commons on the first floor of the west wing of the library is open 24 hours a day, Sunday through Thursday (reduced hours Friday/Saturday).

Study Carrels

A limited number of study carrels are available for graduate students on the recommendation of a faculty member.  Carrel assignments are made for a semester. Pick up an application at the Circulation Desk.
