Delivery of Books
Books will be mailed to your home address free of charge via FedEx. Please be sure to keep your address up to date in PAWS, as this is the address used for delivery. If you would like the materials mailed to a different address, please contact the Distance Education Librarian to set up this arrangement.
Returning Books
You are responsible for the item from the time it is mailed to you until it is received back at UW-Milwaukee Libraries. You are also responsible for paying for the safe and timely return of the materials sent to you. You can use any method you prefer (USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc.). Each book should include a return address label.
Books can be returned to:
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Libraries
Interlibrary Loan/Distance Education Services
2311 East Hartford Ave.
Milwaukee, WI 53211
If you live in Wisconsin, you can return the item to a local library (either another UW library or public library). Please indicate that the item needs to be returned to UW-Milwaukee via the South Central Library System (SCLS) Delivery Service using the red bin.
PantherCat
Search our online catalog (PantherCat) to locate books, journals, videos and DVDs. Search by title, author or keyword.
Locating Books Using PantherCat
Use the library catalog, PantherCat, to search for books. Search by:
- Title (eliminate initial articles, such as "the", "a", "an")
- Author (last name first followed by first name)
- Keyword (the same database search techniques apply; use "and", "or", "not" to separate keywords and put quotes around phrases)
Example: "small business" and marketing
When you find a book in PantherCat, write down the location and call number. The location "Stacks" refers to the main circulating collection from which books can be checked out. For circulating books, make sure to check the status--look for the phrase "Not checked out". Some books may be in other locations, such as Reference, which are non-circulating collections. For more help on finding books and call numbers, see the following library guide: Finding and Checking Out Books.
Remember, it is harder to evaluate the contents of a book just by looking in PantherCat, so it is usually best to get the book off the shelf and look through it before you determine if it will be a good source for your research.
