Serials Review Instructions for Faculty Liaisons

The list of serial titles is presented for review and ranking as an excel spreadsheet. 

The complete list contains all current titles to which the libraries subscribe, including annuals and continuation series, and in all formats, arranged by Library of Congress (LC) subclass.  Please refer to the list of LC subclasses for departmental review for suggested classes to review, as well as a brief description of the classification.  Only review and rank the titles of relevance to your disciplines and areas of interest; it is not necessary to rank every title in the list.  In addition to title and call number, annual costs for the last three years are included; if the latest year is blank, we have not yet received /paid for it.

The list is separated into four lists by LC classification:   AC-GV; H-LJ; M-PZ; Q-Z.  Please look at the list(s) relevant to you.  Each list has separate tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet for LC call numbers.  Click on the tab(s) for your area.

 Indicate your department’s ranking, in the “ranking” column, using a three-tiered ranking system:

1 = Must keep

2 = Keep if possible

3 = Consider for cancellation

There is no need to select a ranking for titles that are not relevant to your areas of interest.  The final list, along with any comments, should be downloaded and submitted by the faculty liaison to the Libraries at: lib-ser2009@uwm.edu, no later than May 1, 2009.
