Non-UWM Resources

If the UWM Libraries does not have an item that you need, the following are other resources that can help you to obtain the item from another library.

  • UW System Borrowing: University of Wisconsin System Borrowing allows library users with a valid UWM ID to request, borrow and return materials from any participating library within the UW System. These requests usually take 3-5 business days. Users may request these materials online and pick them up (and return them) at the Circulation Desk. UWM students and faculty also have access to any UW System library. Use your UWM ID card to gain entrance and check out materials from any UW System library.
  • Interlibrary Loan: When articles and materials are not available through UW System Borrowing, obtain them by making a request through ILLiad. Graduate students may request articles using the Rush Request Service to receive articles in 24 to 48 hours. For more on ILLiad, see FAQs. (Exception: Items that are held at the UWM Libraries, but are on reserve or are checked out, may NOT be requested through Interlibrary Loan).
  • WorldCat: Search WorldCat to find materials held in libraries across North America and beyond. If UWM Libraries does not hold an item and it is not available through UW System borrowing, you may make Interlibrary Loan requests through WorldCat. (WorldCat may not be used to request articles). Access WorldCat from the UWM Libraries homepage.
  • InfoPass: If an item is not held by UWM Libraries, but is available at another local library, you may be able to obtain the item from that library using an InfoPass. Stop by the Information Desk at the Golda Meir Library to see if an InfoPass may be issued for the item you need. Please be sure to bring your valid UWM ID card. (Note: If an InfoPass is issued, you will have to make the trip to pick up the item at the participating local library).
