Most Research Alert services focus on articles, but Books in Print and others include new books! If you are looking for a specific book here are three ways to find it:
Search@UW helps you identify books and other materials available in the UWM Libraries, as well as identify and request items from libraries across the UW System which generally take 3-4 days to be shipped to UWM for pick-up.
Searching WorldCat will identify libraries in other towns, states and countries that have the book or item you are looking for. Libraries in Wisconsin are generally listed first to help find possible local libraries. The Research Help staff can help identify your best options for borrowing items or connect you with Interlibrary Loan request forms.
You do not need to identify a lending library - just place your request through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This way our librarians will try to track the book down when it is not available locally. This service generally takes about two weeks but can be longer depending on where an item is coming from. Physical items (such as books) borrowed through ILL do need to be returned based on terms set by the lending library. Note: Interlibrary Loan is not able to fill requests for text books required for class.
