Most Research Alert services focus on articles, but Books in Print and others include new books! If you are looking for a specific book there are three ways to find it:
Search@UW lets you find books and other materials in the available in the UWMilwaukee library, as well as the libraries across the UW system. It typically takes about 3 days for books from other UW libraries to arrive.
Searching WorldCat will show you all the libraries in the world that have the book you're looking for. All the libraries in Wisconsin that have it will be listed first. This way, you can see if either a public or non-UW system school nearby has the book. You may then check it out with an InfoPass - inquire at the Ask a Librarian desk
If you still have no luck, you can request the book through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This way our librarians will try to track the book down when it is not available within the UW system. This service generally takes about two weeks but can be longer depending on where it is requested from. Note: Interlibrary Loan is not able to fill requests for text books required for class.
